Water Lilies for keyboard solo harp by Paul Lloyd Warner A friend told him that her aunt who lived near Paris was very ill. The friend requested that Paul compose some music for healing which she would send to her aunt in France.

The friend came over to Paul’s studio one evening, bringing with her, a picture of her aunt. Paul, then, sat down to his keyboards and improvised this music in one hour, in honor of the French woman. At the time Paul did not realize that he was recording an album of music that could be heard and enjoyed by many people throughout the world. WATER LILIES has been given to hundreds of people and is universally acclaimed as one of the most beautiful and uplifting healing harp music albums of our time.

COMPOSER’S COMMENTS

As a composer for piano and keyboards, I had always held a secret desire to play the harp. When the KORG T1 Synthesizer Work Station was released in 1990, I discovered that this extraordinary instrument had a superb harp sample in its menu.

I practiced this extraordinary keyboard harp for several years, learning to play it so that the music sounded as though a harpist was playing a real harp. The KORG T1 sample is so accurate, one can hear the pluck of the finger upon the strings and even the air between the sound of the string and the listener’s ear.

So, I practiced and played the keyboard harp for two or three years before I dared to record any music. My vision was to create harp music so faithful to the original harp that it actually sounded as though a real harpist was playing the instrument. I did not want to sound like a pianist playing a harp “sample” on a keyboard. Thus, I closed my eyes while playing and pretended that my arms were extended upward like a harpist so that I could simulate the sound of a harpist playing the strings.

My first album for solo harp is entitled RAIN FOREST was released in 1992 and will be rereleased at a future date. WATER LILIES was recorded in 1997 and is my second CD for solo harp. Paul Lloyd Warner
